Padma Shri awardee and renowned musician SHANKAR MAHADEVAN discusses the importance of music as part of everyday learning and Goa’s role in propagating it.
Renowned Indian musician Shankar Mahadevan recently reiterated the importance of including music in children’s lives, calling for a state-of-the-art facility that will attract students from across the country and the world.
The singer-composer-actor was in Goa recently as part of The Gera School’s Meet The Legend Series, where he celebrated inclusivity with persons with disabilities.
The Padma Shri awardee runs a music course for special children at the Shankar Mahadevan Academy to allow children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) to experience different genres.
The renowned singer believes that the academy has become such an exemplary success that the Goa government should consider signing an MoU with the academy to impact the development of children with autism. Besides, music should be included in every school curriculum as it immensely improves academic performance.
VIVA GOA caught up with the renowned singer to know how music could bring about development in children’s growth.
