Silver Screen’s Silver Lining 

Entertainment Society of Goa vice chairperson & MLA Delilah Lobo discusses the potential for Goa through a film city 

Exciting times lie ahead for filmmakers in Goa. Increased film-related activities in Goa such as screenings, discussions and the annual International Film Festival of India (IFFI) have spurred an interest in filmmaking among youngsters. The proposed setting up of a film city in Canacona will bring in the expertise and infrastructure required for big-budget films. 

The 54th IFFI, which was hosted in Goa in November 2023, boasted a galaxy of leading Indian movie stars in attendance, Oscar-nominated films, critically acclaimed movies from around the world, masterclasses, sessions with  people in the film industry and a whole world dedicated to cinema, arts, culture, food and crafts.  Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG) vice chairperson and MLA Delilah Lobo offers her views on the proposed film city, and opinions on what’s in it for Goa.
