The renowned journalist and author Rajdeep Sardesai, hosted by the Prabha Khaitan Foundation in association with hospitality partners Taj Cidade de Goa, launched his much-anticipated book, 2024: The Election that Shook India, at a thoughtful and engaging conversation in Panaji last year.

The event, part of The Write Circle series, was moderated by Vaishali Puranik Joshi, who guided Sardesai through a series of insightful discussions on India’s evolving political landscape.

In his book, Sardesai delves deep into the complexities and surprises of India’s 2024 election, offering an unprecedented perspective on the factors that shaped this pivotal moment in the country’s democracy. Reflecting on the intricacies of Indian politics, Sardesai emphasised that, “India is a glass half full, not just half empty.” He urged the audience to look at the country’s vast democratic landscape with hope, optimism, and understanding that it is a place of constant change and growth.

The event not only provided a thought-provoking discussion on Indian democracy but also offered a glimpse into author’s personal journey.

Sardesai shared fascinating insights into his transition from Mumbai to Delhi, his learning of the Hindi language, and his shift from cricket to journalism. These personal anecdotes added a deeper layer to the conversation, showcasing Sardesai’s profound engagement with both his subject matter and his own life experiences.

With the successful launch of his book, Sardesai has provided a unique lens through which to view India’s future political trajectory. His words encourage all Indians to look ahead with optimism, embracing the diversity of voices that shape the nation.

The event was graced with a warm welcome by Gaurapriya Pai Kane, who set the tone for an afternoon of reflection and dialogue.

The author was felicitated by Ranjit Phillipose, and Shruti Jaiswal Juwarkar offered the vote of thanks at the conclusion of the event.
