In Loving Memory of Vincent Ramos

He left a rich legacy of generosity, passion for his work in the tourism & hospitality industry and an unmatched love for Goa

Vincy’, ‘Perfectionist’, ‘Santa Claus’ ‘Legend’, ‘Guiding Light’, ‘Banna’ (a term of honour for Rajput youth), are among the many monikers attributed to Vincent Ramos.

He was the heart and soul of the Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) who turned around loss-making establishments. Ramos’ unwavering rise through the ranks within the Taj groups makes him the only Goan to have scaled from the level of an area director in 2017 to prestigiously owning the responsibility as senior vice president, Goa, in 2022.

With his kindness and generosity, Ramos touched the lives of all he met, no matter who they were or from what class of society. Through his words, smile, eyes, courage and million other ways, his light shone brightly on the people within his ambit. His memories will live on forever in the hearts of those he influenced so powerfully.

A ‘Goan patriot’, ‘son of the soil’ and an ‘island boy’, he was always driven by the passion to make a lasting contribution to the people of Goa. He took pride in serving the state by sharing his expertise with the government in policy formation and assisting in reviving Goa’s tourism sector. He served as a mentor for the Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industries’ tourism vertical and was part of the managing committee of the Travel and Tourism Association of Goa.

Ramos also played a pivotal role in advocating the employment of Goan youth in the hotel industry. Rooted in Goan culture, Ramos was often found singing Konkani songs in the hotel lobby and at times would dabble in adding final touches to the wall art during Christmas.

His motto was to work with perfection and spread joy and happiness to near and dear ones. At the age of 55, while he was working on what he loved most, he suddenly collapsed and left the world behind.

Though his untimely demise shattered the hotel industry and created a void, his legacy will live on forever. Long Live Vincent Ramos, Goa’s true hospitality legend!

Adeus, Ramos.
