Goa’s Tourism Set For A Revamp?

With various stakeholders trying to improve upon existing infrastructure, led from the front by the government, the state is gearing up, to become an all-encompassing premium tourist destination.

Goa’s tourism has been revolving around the tagline of ‘Sun Sand and Sea’ for the longest time. With the beaches reaching their full capacity and still thriving, there however seems to be a paradigm shift to this approach. Several stakeholders are now looking at going beyond to attract discerning tourists who seem to tire from the regular fare Goa has to offer. With this in mind there have been several avenues which have opened up from eco-resorts, to luxury homestays and hinterland trails.

One such endeavor adorns our cover. The lush green hills of Netravali, in Sanguem Taluka, South Goa, beckon those who seek solace from the cacophony of the beach belt; and we take our readers on a journey to these hinterlands, with an article by the renowned food and travel columnist Mini Ribeiro. She takes a peek into what The Postcard Hideaway Netravali has to offer, drawing attention to the fact that luxury can also be found in the lush environs.

The property, owned by Abhijat Parrikar, has definitely opened up unseen Goa to the world, while the founder and CEO of Postcard Hotels, Kapil Chopra, leaves no stone unturned in ensuring the guests are treated to luxury in this completely unseen dimension of Goa.

But what is a cover story on tourism without the inclusion of the thoughts the government has to share and the ever popular and highest earning properties in the state? Therefore, giving us an overall picture of the roadmap of tourism in Goa, and what the future holds, is the Tourism and IT Minister Rohan Khaunte in an exclusive interview with VIVA GOA.

Khaunte who wholeheartedly admits that tourism is a big revenue generator for our state, also elucidates how we are yet to tap into its real potential.
