Education: Master of Science in Management – Singapore Management University

Your field of study and why you chose it…
Having pursued Business Services and System Design (BSSD) from Srishti Institute of Art, Design and Technology during my undergraduate programme, I wanted to move beyond designing systems to understanding how they are implemented in the business world. The Master of Science in Management (MIM) programme at Singapore Management University (SMU) felt like
the perfect fit, especially for someone without prior business knowledge who wanted to build a strong foundation. The programme’s flexibility to tailor subjects further strengthened my decision.
Journey from living in Goa to life abroad…
Growing up in Goa, life was slow-paced and close-knit. While comforting, it sparked my curiosity to explore beyond familiar surroundings. Moving abroad was exciting yet overwhelming. Everything felt new, and there was a shift from a laid-back environment to a highly structured lifestyle. Simple moments like someone offering a glass of water when I was unwell taught me to appreciate small acts of kindness. Navigating a new city, managing expenses, and adapting to different communication styles became valuable learning experiences. Over time, I grew more independent, learned to manage my time better, and stepped out of my comfort zone both socially and professionally.

Highlights and challenges of studying overseas…
Studying overseas is a simple yet meaningful upgrade to your current lifestyle and mindset. You are suddenly in a classroom surrounded by peers who think differently and have a different approach towards life. Exposure is the biggest highlight as friendships and connections made abroad open doors for collaboration opportunities across countries. Initially, adjusting could feel challenging with homesickness, missing out on festivities, new academic expectations, but over time, you learn to navigate your own path and discover small joys and growth.
A recent project or achievement you’re proud of…
Alongside studying in Singapore, I was eager to gain work experience. This was one reason I chose Singapore Management University, as the programme includes a compulsory internship. After many applications, cold emails and interviews, I secured an
internship aligned with my interests. I currently work as a business development and research intern at a marketing agency, where the experience strongly complements my academic learning.
