The Rhodes In Paradise

With great connectivity, the perfect swells for family surf sessions and a quiet life in the tropical haven of Agonda, South African cricket legend and one of the greatest fielders of all time Jonty Rhodes found the pathway to a new home in Goa

Social media was abuzz recently when renowned international sportsman Jonty Rhodes moved into a serene beachside neighbourhood in Agonda, Canacona. The former South African cricketer, who announced his arrival with his family on social media, is famous for his iconic catches like the flying leap run out at the 1922 World Cup, the dismissal of Australia’s Damien Martyn, and leaving India’s own Tendulkar stunned at the crease.

He still travels often as a motivational speaker on sports, leadership and teamwork, and has now found it fit to plant his feet on the balmy shores of Goa. Rhodes is also deeply involved in coaching and his work as a director on the board is Evolution Sports Nutrition, a producer of nutrition supplements. In an exclusive interview with VIVA GOA, he candidly talks about his love for Agonda, highlights the hospitable locals and his hopes to work and motivate sportspersons across various sporting disciplines in Goa. He takes readers through his career graph, starting from a multi-sport player to pursuing cricket, and discussing his long-term friendship and admiration for Sachin Tendulkar.
