All The Glitters Is Gold… At IFFA, Abu Dhabi – by Kedar Dhume

The IIFA Award Ceremony, the epitome of glamour and glitz, was back after two years. The long awaited ceremony was held in all its grandeur at the equally grand Yas Island, Abu Dhabi’s famed tourist attraction. And VIVA GOA had the honour of being the only media
publication from Goa, invited to attend this alluring event! Here’s a review of the event in all its glamour!

IIFA this year was a star-studded event that saw several Bollywood celebrities in attendance. It almost seemed like the stars were long awaiting an opportunity to mingle here, after a break of two whole years. The award ceremony hosted by Salman Khan, Riteish Deshmukh, and Maniesh Paul, saw performances by Abhishek Bachchan, Tiger Shroff, Ananya Panday, and Sara Ali Khan, Nora Fatehi among others.

The Awards recognized the talent and efforts of people from the Indian film industry. While Vicky Kaushal and Kriti Sanon were seen flaunting their trophies, the team from Dharma Productions Shershah walked away with five awards including Best Picture!

The awards ceremony itself saw some great moments from the cuteness of Aaradhya and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan cheering her dad Abhishek Bachchan during his performance, dancing to his film Dasvi’s song Macha Macha Re, to the goofy banter between Sara Ali Khan and Salman Khan when the actress called the flamboyant Salman ‘Uncle’ and shahid kapoor’s fantastic performance, as he danced to the tunes of Bappi Lahiri’s songs, in a tribute to the late iconic musician.

And of course there was the red carpet, or as the IIFA tagged it – the Green Carpet – where everyone had just one topic of conversation… Who wore Whom! From the gorgeous Manish Malhotra saree that draped Ananya Pandey, to the beautiful short Anarkali and palazzos Faraz Manan set that made Sara Ali Khan look like a princess, the Green Carpet surely
was glam.

Over the next few pages, we have given our readers a sneak peek into the two day event, starting with the visual treat of a splash of photographs, a review of the Event location – the Yas Island, and a guest article about the Green Carpet. So go ahead and indulge in
the extravaganza.
