Your field of study and why you chose it\u2026<\/strong>
When I first learned about global warming in middle school, I felt a strong sense of responsibility toward environmental challenges. I began exploring these issues through design \u2013 creating films on waste awareness, the greenhouse effect and biodiversity with the movie club at People\u2019s High School. Our film \u2018Over-Coming NIMBY\u2019 received international recognition. I also addressed a local issue in my hometown related to hard water by designing a simple device to reduce water hardness, which won an award at a national science convention. This led me to represent India at a science exchange programme in Japan. Together, these experiences deepened my understanding of how science and design can drive meaningful change. I chose to study architecture \u2013 a convergence of science, research and design \u2013 a field that allows me to shape sustainable environments and respond thoughtfully to complex environmental and social challenges. Additionally, designing and geometry bring me a lot of joy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Journey from living in Goa to life abroad\u2026<\/strong>
I grew up in Goa, where I completed my schooling and later Bachelor of Architecture. After graduating, I moved to Mumbai and worked for two years at Sameep Padora and Associates, a studio I had long admired. These experiences exposed me to a level of rigour and ambition, and being surrounded by peers who have studied at leading institutions encouraged me to think beyond what felt immediately possible. From there, pursuing opportunities abroad felt like a natural next step to expanding my horizons.<\/p>\n\n\n

Highlights and challenges of studying overseas\u2026<\/strong>
Highlights include being in command of my own life. The work is satisfying, rewarding, and I am encouraged to push boundaries. I meet incredibly thoughtful, inspiring people and have access to the best resources. Challenges include navigating new systems, different weather, a different lifestyle, but the hardest one is being away from family and loved ones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A recent project or achievement you\u2019re proud of\u2026<\/strong>
I was selected as a speaker for TEDxRISD in March, and I was very excited about this.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Differences between studying in India vs abroad\u2026<\/strong>
Studying in India strengthened my core architectural concepts very well of how things work \u2013 the logics of building constructions. My studies in the US made me rethink convention and encouraged me to think out-ofthe-box. Both experiences have been fundamental to my growth. I remain grateful to my teachers, education and the institutions that have supported me, both in India and abroad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
